Wrongful Death Motor Vehicle Accident
This office recently represented the family of a 61-year-old woman killed in a motor vehicle accident in Fall River. The deceased was survived by her husband and seven children. The family became dissatisfied with the law firm they had initially hired and contacted Attorney Sabra a short time before the matter was scheduled for trial. This office was able to bring the case to a successful conclusion through a final attempt at mediation. The suit was filed in the Bristol County Superior Court and was settled prior to trial for a total of $550,000.
Pre-Existing Condition Motor Vehicle Accident
Attorney Steven P. Sabra represented a young man who was injured in a succession of motor vehicle accidents in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Attorney Sabra was able to successfully argue that the young man's underlying and dormant multiple sclerosis was aggravated by the injuries sustained in the motor vehicle accident. The case was concluded without a trial at mediation for a total of $225,000. This case demonstrates the aggravation of a pre-existing condition can be compensated under the law.
Premises Liability Fall Through Trap Door
Attorney Steven P. Sabra successfully represented an 82-year-old woman who fell into an opened trap door in the hallway of her hairdresser's salon. The woman was walking down the hallway to the restrooms where an electrician doing work for another business tenant left the trap door unattended without warning signs. The elderly woman sustained numerous fractures, underwent several operations, and had to be temporarily placed into a nursing home during part of her recovery period. Claims were brought against the owner of the building, the electrician and the business tenant who hired the electrician. A lawsuit was filed in the Bristol County Superior Court. The case settled for $205,000
